Gabe was born and raised in the small mid-Michigan town of Perry and graduated from high school in 1997. Hunting and fishing trips were labeled as “family vacations”. Sampling some of the great trout streams in the nation only wetted his appetite for the outdoors. Just out of high school, a series of employers got him started in the outdoor industry. Gabe was an archery technician and lead associate at Gander Mountain and then moved to Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills to help open the store there.
In late 1999, he started working with Michigan Out-of-Doors television and has been there ever since. Shooting hunting and fishing from Monroe to Ironwood, he has seen just about every area of the state and enjoyed hunting and fishing with some great outdoorsmen on the way. In his freetime, Gabe hunts and fishes around Michigan and also out of state. He guides for turkeys in the spring and has taken 3 of the 4 species of turkeys towards a Grand Slam on do-it-yourself hunts. Bowhunting is a passion but often hunting without a guide or outfitter makes it all the more rewarding. Besides his home state, Gabe has hunted the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Illinois, Missouri and Ohio.
Gabe is married to his high school sweetheart, Shelley and they have two boys (Drake and Reed) who are closely following in dad’s footsteps. Gabe also helps out with the Youth Group in his church and helps plan several outdoor ministries through the church.
